Summer RosettaCon 2026 Travel Guide
AIRFARE
Each attendee is responsible for booking and paying for their own airfare. Please inquire with your PI and home institution about reimbursements. The nearest airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). We recommend booking airfare as soon as possible to avoid price increases.
For attendees awarded a travel grant, our travel agent will book flights on your behalf. Please follow the instructions in the email you receive regarding your travel grant, as privately booked flights cannot be reimbursed.

LODGING
Lodging will be provided in shared rooms at the University of Washington dorms or through reservations at the University Inn – StayPineapple Hotel. All conference accommodations will be shared with another attendee. Please indicate your lodging needs and preferred dates during registration. Lodging booked by conference staff will be as follows:
- Faculty: University Inn – StayPineapple Hotel, Check-in: 4:00 PM and check-out: 12:00 PM
- Postdocs: University of Washington Dorms, Maple Hall
- Students/Trainees: University of Washington Dorms, Maple Hall
- Rosetta Commons staff: University of Washington Dorms, Maple Hall
- Dorm Check-In Location: Lander Hall, 1201 NE Campus Pkwy, Seattle, WA 98105 (Serves as the main desk for Maple Hall guests). Check-in: 2:00pm, check-out: 11:00am.
Industry and Non-Rosetta Commons Members have the option of either staying in shared Rosetta accommodations or arranging their own lodging. If you'd like to stay at the University Inn - StayPineapple Hotel, please use this link for a discounted rate.
Because this event is local, conference accommodations will not be provided for UW trainees, faculty, or postdocs.
TRAVEL TO/FROM THE CONFERENCE VENUE
The conference will take place at the University of Washington. There are several ways to travel between the airport and the university, with the journey taking around 30 mins - 1 hour, so please plan your flight times accordingly. When possible, try to travel with others to help reduce costs, increase safety, and make for a far more fun experience. Here are some options to explore for getting from the airport to the University of Washington:
- Link Light Rail: Take the 1 Line from the airport to U District Station. One way fares are $3.25. Around 50 mins - 1 hour. You can purchase rail tickets at one of the kiosks outside the station entrance.
- Taxi/Rideshare: Uber/Lyft options are available with pickup at the airport requested upon arrival through the app. It cost approximately $70-75, but prices will vary. Around 35 mins, depending on traffic.
- Driving: Take WA-518 W to WA-509 N, continue onto WA-99N, and and then N 40th St to the University District. Around 35 mins, depending on traffic.
PARKING
In general, it is encouraged to use public transportation or walk to get to/from the conference. However, parking options are available to those who need them.
- Daily visitor parking is available at the University of Washington.
- Self-park options are available at the University Inn - StayPineapple Hotel for individuals staying at the hotel. Additional fees apply.
FRIDAY ACTIVITIES
A sign-up sheet went out to registered conference attendees for Friday activities. A shuttle will be provided for the short hike, medium hike, and whale watching options. Transportation needs to be self organized for the long hike and city explorer options. Whale watching has an additional fee which participants will have to pay themselves. More information will be sent via email about all activities.
